Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
I wonder if you’re a Big Picture person or whether, like me, you tend to get lost in the details. I can lose minutes just staring at a rose hip – there seems to be a whole world going on in there. William Blake’s Auguries of Innocence (“To see a World in a Grain of Sand” – Blake had a really dodgy caps lock key) articulates it perfectly. So many rose hips still about in the garden, though the birds have had most of them from the wild dog roses in the hedges. Yet another native or naturalised plant that’s a fantastic source of Vitamin C (see Goosegrass on Day 13) – it makes you realise what an impressive PR job has been done for citrus fruit over the centuries.
