Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
Every now and then, you catch a glimpse of a familiar plant from a different angle, and it’s like meeting it for the first time – as if an old friend suddenly revealed a hitherto unseen aspect of their character that makes you love them that bit more. And so, while taking some plant portraits of the black elder in the shade of the courtyard, the plum-toned of Heuchera ‘Palace Purple’ decided to interject with a flower spike, and I’ve been in raptures over the delicacy of its exquisite, tiny bell-shaped flowers, and their airy arrangement along the stem. So much more than a useful blob of colourful foliage, even if (to my shame) that’s how I generally use it.
