Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
No kittens in this household, bewhiskered or otherwise, but thanks to this afternoon’s downpour there are plenty of raindrops on roses. The gloomy skies have deepened what shade their is beneath the taller shrubs, but I can’t say I mind – hot sun frazzles the flowers and causes the blooms to go over far more quickly than I’d like. Quite apart from which, the roses are more than happy to glimmer out at us from the semi-dark, as here with ‘Lochinvar’ – each drop of water a tiny magnifying lens on leaf or petal. Long may they linger.
