Green and pink and... quite honestly, a bit bonkers – Echinacea purpurea ‘Green Twister’ is a refreshingly interesting take on the bog standard pink echinacea (Day 220), and should be as robust as the species when it comes to getting it to overwinter. Which is to say, not particularly robust, but a whole lot better than many of the fancy hybrid varieties which have proved to be less hardy than claimed. I’ve yet to try this in my own garden but as a perennial that will flower in its first year, I’ll be tempted to grow some from seed in spring.
