Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year
December dashes on, and the berries are out on the ivy. You find them held just proud of the mature foliage, those glossier, deep green leaves with none of the lobing we associate with the juvenile form (it took me a very long time to realise that both leaves belonged to the same plant, and even longer to notice that both could be held on the same individual at once, entire leaves higher up, lobed juvenile leaves toward the bottom). Held in spherical clusters, each berry is a work of art – plump, mid grey, topped off with a matt black disc, the entire effect not unlike the black cap sported by the jackdaws with whom they share the garden.
A year of garden coaching
I’m very excited about my new venture – it’s a way for me to work with more people than I can physically get around to, helping them to make the very best of their gardens in a way that suits the life they lead. If you’d like to find out more, please click here to book for a January 2020 start.
