Day 344: focus

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Winter strips away distractions and, while the skies might seem more vast and the landscape more open in the absence of abundant leaf cover, I find myself drawn to the small details. Of course, it helps that the frosty morning dews adds a sparkle and draws the eye, but I wonder how for the rest of the year I can walk by the flaked iron bark of the smoke bush Cotinus coggygria without pausing to wonder at its intricate flaking detail and the tiny patches of lichen making it their home. And while in summer I congratulate myself painting those parts of the border with that shade of purple, only now do I find time to drink in the shades of claret and plum chasing each other across a single leaf.

A year of garden coaching

I’m very excited about my new venture – it’s a way for me to work with more people than I can physically get around to, helping them to make the very best of their gardens in a way that suits the life they lead. If you’d like to find out more, please click here to book for a January 2020 start.
