Day 92: don't panic

Daily details from the garden to bring you inspiration throughout the year

Tulips popping everywhere, forget-me-nots peeping from the bud – a growing sense of alarm at quite how much of last season remains to be dealt with in the borders before they can even consider putting on their spring finery (in spite of every effort to the contrary, this is still a garden that comes into its own in May, but then maybe that’s only to be expected for a Taurean). But tonight the wind swings around to the north-east, and the mercury is set to dive and stay low for the next fortnight. Breathing in deeply as the garden slows again, while peering out though windows at the gusty courtyard past ledges stuffed with impatiently-vigorous pelargoniums.
