There’s a moment just as the sun rises on a clear, cold winter’s morning, when the growing light still has the blue tinge of night about it. You have to be quick to catch it, but it’s the perfect time to appreciate the frost riming the edges of the garden – not only the plants, but the buildings and structures too. The old iron roller, rarely pressed into service now, enjoys sitting about and looking ornamental; never more so than on days like these.
